Gibson, Jr. on August 20, 1987 in Newark, New Jersey, Valerie Samayyah Parker came into the world during the height of the “new jack swing era”. Both parents were very talented singers known around the community of Newark, so it was no surprise that Samayyah would be a gifted singer with a deep love for music. When asked about her style, Samayyah said, “I've always had an old soul, and my mother raised me on old school music. I believe that this beautiful combination has had a profound impact on my singing style.”
